  • Facebook Home – A Step Up For Mobile Marketers

Facebook just recently announced the newest version of Facebook for mobile devices, an application for Android phones called Facebook Home. It is a new concept for your smartphone, gearing your actions towards the people you want to connect with instead of the applications that connect you to all of Facebook. They have studied what actions mobile users take most often and set it up for you to easily access just those features first. “The home screen is the sole of your phone” explains Mark Zuckerberg.   You look at it about 100 times a day and because of that, the experience should be personal. That is the reason behind the new suite of applications called “HOME”. So what is Facebook Home? It is a family of …

  • New Facebook Timeline

Facebook introduced their new Timeline to the news and media on March 7, 2013. We gave a preview of the new Facebook design on our blog last week. According to Facebook, the driving force behind the updated look is to “reduce clutter and focus more on stories from the people you care about”. They are accomplishing this with a more streamlined single column page set up with a focus on visual imaging, since photos are such a driving force behind Facebook. In orderto make sure you’re seeing all the stories you want to see,  they have introduced several new feeds to explore in addition to the same News Feed you have now:   All Friends – a feed that shows you everything your friends are …

  • The 4 Stages of Social

Social is one of the most overused words in the language, and it probably means different things to different people. We tend to use it in many different contexts too. Social Security doesn’t refer to our ability to get a date, it’s a pension program. Then there’s the “social media,” which consists largely of typing words in a box and sending them to people we may not even know, or who may not be using their real names. It’s OK, we still consider that social. Let’s break down the stages of social. Recognition. They’ve come to your Website, that’s a big step. Interaction. They …

  • Pinterest v. Facebook: Tale of the Tape

A study of 50,000 Australian Internet users and the accompanying infographic has shown considerable light on how Australians view and use Facebook and its upstart rival, Pinterest. According to the study: Pinterest drives more sales than Facebook. Pinterest was said to have influenced 10 percent of sales, versus 7 percent for Facebook. But, Pinterest users are not as engaged as Facebook users, which might have something to do with the shorter time Pinterest has been around so its users have not developed as much of a habit of posting as Facebook users. But, Pinterest users spend more than Facebook users, almost twice as much at $180. This too might be a function of demographics as Facebook hits a larger percentage of the population. But, it …
