New Facebook Timeline
Facebook introduced their new Timeline to the news and media on March 7, 2013. We gave a preview of the new Facebook design on our blog last week. They are accomplishing this with a more streamlined single column page set up with a focus on visual imaging, since photos are such a driving force behind Facebook. In orderto make sure you’re seeing all the stories you want to see, they have introduced several new feeds to explore in addition to the same News Feed you have now: All Friends – a feed that shows you everything your friends are …

The Rise of the Second Screen
The game is on, and the family is gathering around the TV set, but increasingly they’re bringing something else with them, be it a smartphone, or a laptop or a tablet. They’re watching this while they’re watching that. An infographic describes this new phenomenon as the Rise of the Second Screen, when TV went social. If millions of people are watching the game on TV, and millions more are commenting on it on Twitter or Facebook, from a marketing perspective, your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to find a way into that conversation. Infographic Credit: Visual.ly For example, let’s say we were in the pizza business. We could have an ad on TV that contained a call to action for some fantastic …

The 4 Stages of Social
Social is one of the most overused words in the language, and it probably means different things to different people. We tend to use it in many different contexts too. Then there’s the “social media,” which consists largely of typing words in a box and sending them to people we may not even know, or who may not be using their real names. It’s OK, we still consider that social. Let’s break down the stages of social. Recognition. They’ve come to your Website, that’s a big step. Interaction. They …

Infographic Credit: AlphaDigital Australian marketers will want to play close attention to the latest research on social media and online growth in Australia, compiled by It’s obvious that the social media will play an increasingly important role as an “influencer” in consumer purchases, so every marketer should consider a social media component to a marketing plan. To get a feel for where we are, consider that 70 percent of all purchases are now researched online prior to sale, and that Facebook’s roughly 11 million Australian users represent 65 percent of all Australian Internet users.
