Facebook just recently announced the newest version of Facebook for mobile devices, an application for Android phones called Facebook Home. It is a new concept for your smartphone, gearing your actions towards the people you want to connect with instead of the applications that connect you to all of Facebook. They have studied what actions mobile users take most often and set it up for you to easily access just those features first. “The home screen is the sole of your phone” explains Mark Zuckerberg.   You look at it about 100 times a day and because of that, the experience should be personal. A recent study on the state of digital marketing was conducted by ‘The APAC Digital Marketing Performance Dashboard 2012‘ and was released by the CMO Council in partnership with Adobe in late 2012.  The report clearly shows a trend toward digital marketing for all businesses regardless if they are selling online or offline and even if they previously only practiced traditional marketing methods, with Australia trailblazing the way into the interactive marketing world. • The Largest Ad Agency in the World

Let’s face it, sometimes the marketing business can be a Royal Pain. You offered them Plan A, B and C. Plan A was too expensive, Plan B didn’t move them, and Plan C doesn’t move you. You only included it to give them another choice, and that’s the one they’re looking at, unless you can come up with Plan D. But you’re out of ideas. Where to turn? How about the telly? Yes, there’s a supermarket of thousands of marketing ideas, some clever, some so jaw droppingly dumb that you laugh out loud. But you have a leg up on the poor defenseless consumer. You see this stuff all the time. The best ad ever was a National Lampoon parody featuring a big eyed dog …

  • Marketing in “Tough Times”

By now, everyone has heard the expression “marketing in tough times” so often that it’s become a cliche. But, then, most cliches have the ring of truth–that‘s why they’re cliches–and after while it is true that if something goes on long enough it will become the “new normal” and people will adjust their expectations to whatever that might be. At some point, “tough times” gets “baked in the cake” as they say on Wall Street. This doesn’t mean the economic conditions still won’t be a factor, it just means certain conditions will be taken for granted as we discuss future business plans. But we’ll still need to be marketing. Why consumers buy or don’t buy has always been something of a mystery with many different …

  • Does Your Website Engage?

Web hits, click throughs, and page views are all ways to measure Website engagement, but they don’t tell the entire story about whether a Website is engaging its audience. Not all metrics are created equal nor are they useful for every audience. Take the various news portals, like Yahoo, Drudge, etc. They get tens of millions of hits from surfers who may stay there only long enough to scan the headlines. Is there stickiness? No. Will news hounds be back later in the day? You bet. Since the news portals have heavy ad traffic, one must figure that this mode of marketing is working well for them. Some Websites are going to be limited in their audiences through no fault of their own. They may …
