Halloween is Almost Here Plan for Halloween Treats at the Office and No Tricks

Planning a Halloween party at the office can be tricky. For us here in the southern hemisphere, Halloween also celebrates spring and the beginning of the holiday season. Even though it is not originally an Australian holiday, many Australians are embracing the fun of pumpkins, costumes, and candy treats. Office parties done right can help morale and bonding among co-workers. Here are 10 tips to make your Halloween party full of treats instead of any tricks.

  1. Have a Pumpkin Carving Contest: This is a symbol of Halloween and even though this fall gourd isn’t in season, pumpkin carving is a fun way to hold a friendly competition that doesn’t involve costumes and makeup. The finished pumpkins are an excellent and easy decoration idea for your business or office.
  2. Have a Costume Contest: This is the best way to truly get in the spirit of the Halloween holiday. It can also be a great team building exercise if you assign departments to choose themes.
  3. Have a Candy Making Contest: Halloween and candy go hand in hand. Hold a snack, treat, or candy contest and those offerings can be the treats for your Halloween Party.
  4. Celebrate the Beginning of Summer with your favourite summer foods: If you don’t want to go all out for Halloween, that’s OK too. Instead celebrate spring and the beginning of summer.
  5. Decorate the office with Halloween or Summer Décor: Changing the office atmosphere with decorations is a great way to bring the holiday or the season in.
  6. Have an office Halloween party for breakfast or lunch: If you don’t want to take the time out for a full on Halloween party, just have a Halloween themed breakfast or lunch.
  7. Trick or treat around the office: Get into the trick-or-treat spirit of things by going cubicle to cubicle and literally trick or treating.
  8. Play Halloween games: There are some fun Halloween party games that you can take some time out to play.
  9. Volunteer to help a community Halloween activity: If you are charity minded and perhaps don’t want to do something at the office, get together and decide on a local event to volunteer at.
  10. Have a Halloween Sale: Your company needs to get in on the holiday fun too. Offer a scary sale or a spooky discount.
