How Will These Brands’ Initiatives for Adding “Fun” Inspire You?

Did you set New Year’s resolutions for your business? New Year’s resolutions are something that we usually set for ourselves, but what about your business? We often forget to set New Year’s resolutions or annual goals for our business or brand. It is an important step towards growth that should not be ignored. ClickZ recently pointed out that too often we forget to include “have fun” as a personal resolution and that it should definitely be a high priority for us all, including our business. Who doesn’t like “fun”? There aren’t many brands that wouldn’t want to be associated with having fun, or at the very least some light heartedness.  Retail made fun equals a great shopping experience. Incorporating stimulation for all the senses leads to satisfied customers that buy, again and again. That is why your brand should have as much fun as possible. Here are some brands aim to do this well in 2014:

Apple

Most Apple locations are open late night, some around the clock. Their stores are a mecca for Apple enthusiasts who pile in and crowd the stores, even at 1am.

Uniqlo

This clothing retailer focuses on providing a fun in store experience for every one of all ages. Uniqlo’s founder and chairman, Tadash Yanai’s philosophy is to “change the world by creating clothing with new and unique value, and to enable people all over the world to experience the joy, happiness and satisfaction of wearing such great clothes.” Joy, happiness, and satisfaction are all linked, the unique value that appeals to the senses include inexpensive clothes that are brightly colored.

We previously told you about WestJet’s wonderful Christmas surprise  where they had a digital Santa ask passengers what they wanted for Christmas and then delivered all of the requested gifts at the flight’s destination via the luggage terminal.

Kate Spade

Retailer Kate Spade accompanied the launch of their Saturday brand with some fun and engaging pop up stores. A new item debuts each Saturday and consumers can visit these pop up locations and order 24 hours a day with the help of e-Bay.

What can you do for your brand to add some fun to your brand or to your customer’s shopping experience? Remember to appeal to the senses and try to lighten things up in ways that will make your brand stand out.
