How to Use Storytelling to Convey Branding

The social atmosphere that is available to businesses makes branding that much easier when you use storytelling to help get exposure and develop your brand. Stories can really help get your brand message across and social media can help you do it. Writing blogs and press releases also are other ways to let the public and your customers know what your company’s story is. However, just like with most things in life, actually showing people what you are about is the best way to convey messaging. Your company message and story can be told through the quality of the products or services you put out. Word of mouth from employees and consumers who receive this messaging can be your best communication vessel.

Communicating Stories and Emotion

Business is often conducted with policies and is without emotion. Stories are emotional and make it easier to convey what you want to convey and invoke the emotion you want people to feel about your company. Here are some ways to tell stories on your social channels, email communications, blogs, and press releases:

  • Talk about the charities your company supports and what charitable outreach your company has done recently.
  • Write about your employees. Tout their achievements, discuss their personal stories, and show what they do in their positions.
  • Interact with consumers and potential consumers on social channels and take interest in them.
  • Create buzz with contests or sweepstakes.
  • Build out content based on these stories on your website in addition to social channels and do not forget about video.
  • Showing your company culture tells people a lot about your brand.
  • Write content that is valuable to your customers and your social media followers. Getting likes and shares is a great way to spread the word about your brand along with information that shows what your company does.
