7 Tips to Reduce Stress at Work

  1. Do not expect to be stress free all the time. Instead look for indicators and ways to avoid those situations and deal with them with a positive outlook and a plan for success.
  2. Develop a plan for dealing with stressful situations. Learn to analyze the situation and use techniques for overcoming the stress. Keep positive mantras such as “when one door opens, another closes” or “this too shall pass”. Many cope with stress through humor, which allows them to keep things in perspective and relax. Think of something to reward yourself with once you are done dealing with the stressful situation at hand.
  3. Be physically prepared for stress. One of the sure ways to beat stress is to be physically and mentally ready for it; eat right and stay in shape to keep your brain focused.
  4. Let the sunshine in. Vitamin D3 is good for positive physical, mental and emotional enhancement. If your office has windows, make sure to open them and let the sunshine in. If your office does not have windows, take your breaks outside to get some sun and fresh air. Fresh air often lets you have a fresh perspective.
  5. Acknowledge and accept the fact you do not always need to be right. This is important in the workspace when you have superiors or customers that you need to please. Let it go and the stress will leave along with that notion.
  6. Visualize a stress free work day. Do not expect to have a stressful day and that will go a long way towards avoiding it.
  7. Set your office space up for optimum efficiency. Efficient work space and productivity reduces stress.
