The Importance of Branding

Branding. It seems like just a buzz word for companies; however we see the importance of this key business strategy all the time with our clients. Branding means a lot to a business. It is the way that a business gains a voice, a personality, an image. Branding is also about customers remember your business. The American Marketing Association (AMA) defines a brand as a “name, term, sign, symbol or design, or a combination of them intended to identify the goods and services of one seller or group of sellers and to differentiate them from those of other sellers.

With our promotional products, branding is as simple as keeping your name in front of your customers and keeping your business on their minds. It not only can get new customer purchases, but also retains current customers or clients. Branding is not just something for big corporations, even the smallest size companies can benefit from promoting their brand and getting their name out there in front of customers and clients, reminding them who you are and how your business can solve their problem or need.

Part of creating a brand for your company is the logo. The company’s logo can instill that visual image and make your company more memorable, recognizable, and relatable to consumers. Logos do not have to be complicated or detailed. Some of the most successful logos are extremely simple. When you think of famous logos such as the Nike swoosh, Amazon’s font and curved line and represents a smile, Apple’s apple with a bite taken out, you can invasion them in your mind as you read about them without seeing the logo and you know exactly what I am talking about. Successful logos are instantly recognizable and memorable. Some logos that work well for companies are not even directly related to the product or service, and some logos are as simple as the type of font lettering that is used.

One of the great tips for branding is to stay focused. When you know what your brand is, and the strengths and weaknesses, that helps you stay on track with the branding strategy. Keep up with your tagline as part of a consistent focus on your business. Do not lose focus on your tagline and your business mission and that will keep your eye on maintaining your brand. Another great way to stay focused is to keep in mind that you don’t have to appeal to everyone. Stay in tuned with your niche target market and appeal to them. Remember the 80/20 rule when coming up with and maintaining your branding strategy. Twenty percent of your customers will make up eighty percent of your sales.

In today’s digital world, branding has become more important than ever. With the internet, websites, advertising in combination with the short attention span people have today, there is a need to catch people’s attention and make them remember you.
